The third 78', hydrofoil-assisted Teknicraft Catamaran built by All American Marine was delivered for Kitsap Transit's fast ferry service between Bremerton and Seattle. This 118 passenger ferry is high speed, with ultra-low wake, and will join the Reliance and Rich Passage I to provide additional ferry service on Kitsap Transit's fast ferry route. J109 Going to Red was tacking in close quarters to the shore shortly after the start of the harbour race of Volvo Cork week 2024. With the tide rushing into Cork Harbour it paid to stick to the right to get relief from the in rushing tide. There are a couple of close crosses as the majority of the fleet tried to maximise the relief they got. Initially, we had planned to keep Hawila’s stern intact as it appeared healthy and had received massive work in the 90s. However, things are not always as they appear on wooden ships, and while trying to fit our beam shelves aft we realised the poor condition of the upper stern frames particularly. To make a good connection we now have to replace the stern frames which means that eventually nearly all ship’s timber will be replaced.
