🐋 The majestic sperm whale, also known as the cachalot, is the largest of the toothed whales and holds the title of the largest toothed predator. 🌊 Named for the waxy substance "spermaceti" in their heads, which aids in focusing sound, these magnificent creatures have a rich history. 💡 Spermaceti was once used in oil lamps, lubricants, and candles, but unfortunately, they were heavily hunted during the commercial whaling era. Today, there are around 300,000 sperm whales left, and they are classified as endangered. 🌍 #SpermWhales #MarineLife #EndangeredSpecies
