UPDATE: Sunday champagne sailing , 100 degrees to the wind. These boats are more close to multihull than monohull performance. Doing 21 knots in 12 knots of breeze sometimes. The first test of our Dyneema loops that replace metal chainplates as part of our full Dyneema Standing rigging project within the full refit of our 1977 Rival 38. We are refitting our Rival 38 for a Sustainable Sailing retirement in a few years. Two years ago, when we bought Vida she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings. We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all electric (motor, cooking etc). Now that the inside is dry (thanks to new windows, new hatches and leak chasing) we are fitting her out for live-aboard world cruising. That includes no fossil fuels, updating the rig and deck plus much more. Hey guys, it's been a while since we've posted anything on Youtube but we're still on our trip - currently in Maui, Hawaii after an unplanned 4,848 nautical mile passage in March from Panama to Hawaii due to Covid. But we're having a great time (given the circumstances) and the trip continues. We've also decided to try to post more videos, even if they're shorter.
