In competitive offshore racing, aggressive overtaking can cost you everything. Watch this high-speed sailboat make a calculated risk that nearly becomes a catastrophe. At the bottom of a massive wave face, the bow collides directly with a breaking wave, rolling the entire boat sideways and nearly throwing crew members into the violent ocean. This is raw, unfiltered footage of what happens when professional sailors push themselves and their equipment to the absolute limit during extreme weather conditions. Multiple waves, back-to-back impacts, and the crew's desperate fight to stay aboard and keep the boat afloat. ⛵ What you'll see: • High-speed aggressive overtaking gone wrong • Direct wave impact at critical angle • Crew members nearly swept overboard • Back-to-back wave strikes • The entire fleet's battle in chaos 🌊 Real offshore racing. Real danger. Real footage. Have you experienced extreme sailing conditions? Let us know in the comments. J109 Going to Red was finding it hard to avoid the Cork 1720's who where sailing a different course with shared marks on the final day of Volvo Cork Week 2024. After ducking one starboard tacker it looked like they were clear until another one flicked over and call STARBOARD. The skipper on the J109 gave him the option to let them cross or get leebowed which would have destroyed both there races. Luckily common sense prevailed and both boats got to separate and finish there separate races. The team at Bottom Up Boats hope you like this short clip from our week of racing at Volvo Cork Week 2024.
