Regardless if you call it a Chinese Gybe, Death Roll or Uncontrolled Gybe they can happen in a heart beat. One second you are cruising along and the next you are lying flat in the water with little or no ability to do anything about it. This Chinese Gybe was over in an instant, cost us the race, in reflection it taught us a lot about preventing it from happening again and how to recover better if it does happen again. For full analysis of what went wrong and how to avoid your own Chinese Gybe while you are sailing you can watch the full video with commentary linked below. https://youtu.be/il1aE1-3k8o This is Bottom UP Boats first Haiku that we made for sharing on Reddit, we hoped you liked it even though it is short and sweet.

Trash on a boat is a daily occurrence! When we buy groceries we try to remove and leave as much packaging on shore but trash inevitably accumulates. In each new harbor we have to find the spot where cruisers can deposit their trash. In some cases, like St Maarten, it’s free. In other countries, or ports, there are small fees. The one thing a cruiser should never do is bring trash to land and leave it for someone else to take care of. Instead…stop by your neighbors (even if you don’t know them yet) and tell them you’re doing a trash run and you’re happy to take theirs! Follow us for tips, updates, how tos, and more about living the sailing cruiser lifestyle. #takingoutthetrash #sailingexperience #sailinglife
