Who has not dreamed of living off-grid. Toni and I with our Seawind Catamaran thought this might be achievable, with our water maker, 1600 watts of solar, fishing skills and the like. But are we really ever off-grid, AIS tattling your course and speed, smart phones and smart watches lighting up the airwaves, cell towers pinging your location with every text message, and now eyes in space. I guess we could simply turn everything off, but then how will they find us if we are ever in distress? Feel free to comment and let us know your thoughts. Subscribe and share the adventure! The RYA Training Centre is an integral part of DOSC, providing sailing lessons for everyone - no matter their age, no matter their ability. DOSC has been affiliated with the RYA since 1998, trains over 5000 students yearly, and runs more than 1000 courses every year. We have a dedicated instructor team who, in line with the RYA, deliver high quality sailing courses with the focus of every session to improve the students sailing ability, and develop a love for sailing and the marine environment. We run the 'Learn to Sail' Program for the youth, which is split into Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. The beginner course takes you through RYA Stage 1&2, bringing you to a point where you can sail a boat under supervision. RYA Stage 3&4 is the basis of the intermediate course, introducing bigger boats, and more technical skills. Once completed, you will be sail confidently alone, and rent a boat to be able to enjoy sailing on your own time. The last of the Learn to Sail course is Advanced, which looks at the RYA Advanced modules, and is designed as a development course. This means there is no specific completion point, as it will continue to develop and improve upon skills. It also introduces new skills, such as spinnakers & racing, and uses a variety of boats. ON LOCATION: ANCIENT CITY OF SALONA Returning back to the age of Roman Empire has never been easier! Salona's history dates back to ca. 181 BCE when the Illyrian tribe of the Delmatae settled in what is today the Croatian region of Dalmatia. An inexhaustible archaeological site with impressive buildings that remind us of the fame and glory of this lost civilisation. Only 25 minutes by bus from Split and you’ll get a perfect half-day trip with your friends or family. Notes for visitors: * The main entrance is open Monday-Saturday 9am-7pm; Sunday 9am-2pm. * Outside of opening hours it's possible to visit the park either through the main entrance (the gate is normally left open) or from the entrance at the amphitheatre. * Salona is in no way handicap-accessible. Roads and paths are rough and access to many ruins involves rocky stairs that may or may not be slippery. * Good shoes are a must. See more, check out our drone video of Salona here: https://youtu.be/gikpo_Wyd08 Want to know how to get to Salona from Split check out this great article from getbybus: https://getbybus.com/en/blog/ancient-salona-ruins/ Come sailing with 45 Degrees Sailing!
