While looking for a cell phone signal in my tender outside of Squirrel Cove in Desolation Sound, this whale surfaced just off my stern. A nine foot boat feels rather small in comparison. I just sat and watched for quite some time until it was out of sight.

One of our NSSC Sailability members, Jazz Turner, featured on BBC South East Today lunchtime news whilst sailing on her epic Project FEAR ("face everything and rise") journey. She is attempting to become the first female wheelchair user to complete a solo, non-stop, unassisted circumnavigation of the UK and Ireland. Jazz is raising money for the Newhaven and Seaford Sailing Club (NSSC) Sailability fund. Only a few months ago our Indian friend Gladwin couldn't swim. He couldn't even jump in a shallow swimming pool to begin with and yet now, thanks to myself and Brian he is doing lengths.
