The replacement for the A44, officially launched at Cannes back in September, is still by Lasta Design but has much more modern lines than its predecessor with its inverted bows, large hull portholes and coachroof well integrated into the overall silhouette. Inside and on deck, the 45 presents numerous innovations, starting with the possibility of offering up to six cabins and four bathrooms thanks to companionways from the cockpit. In the four-cabin version, all the berths are installed athwartships. With the ever-increasing explosion of foiling into the sailing community Australian Sailing is working to develop programs and resources to support sailors and clubs to get involved in this new and exciting space. One of the first initiatives is the development of FOIL-LABs which are day long introductory sessions allowing participants to experience and learn about foiling. FOIL-LABs provide a safe space for sailors to learn and interact with a new type of sailing experience and equip themselves with new knowledge to take on foiling classes. Sailors will learn the fundamentals that drive a hydrofoils performance, as well learn about the body and physical relationships that offer a path to mastery. Mastering the basics gives more options to have more fun, more often. It also allows sailors to chase performance in a range of modern performance sailing classes in a fun and fulfilling way.
