Il giorno successivo a un forte stress è un giorno che galleggia nell’aria senza una meta precisa. Sei stanco, ma nello stesso tempo riposato come se avessi dormito per un mese intero, un po’ intontito e senti scivolare tra le dita le sensazioni di un momento intenso. Come ci si sente? Non ricordo più. Tu come sei stata? Ne parliamo mentre chiacchieriamo, camminando verso la spiaggia di Motril. - Non eri spaventata? Questa domanda mi sorprende. A bordo mi sento sveglia, attenta, operativa, agile, infreddolita, a volte annoiata, ma mai spaventata. Forse lo sono sembrata? Il mio compito a bordo è di occuparmi di tutto ciò che non concerne timonare, parliamo quindi di aprire, issare, ammainare e regolare le vele, tenere ordinato il pozzetto e l’ambiente sottocoperta, andare a prua a sistemare eventuali cose, fare video, gestire l’ancora. Un momento di tensione come quello di ieri accende i nostri riflessi e l’adrenalina ci tiene reattivi. In un momento così io penso ai miei compiti perché so che Andre pensa ai suoi, ovvero a governare una barca di 15metri in un mare agitato. Se so quello che faccio e mi fido di lui al timone, perché dovrei spaventarmi? Ne parliamo e ci alleggeriamo entrambi. In fact, the Giant Squid (cousin to this Caribbean Reef Squid) has the largest eyes on the entire planet at a minimum of 10 in / 25 cm in diameter. Even the Blue Whale does not compare at 11 cm. What’s strange is small eyes can actually see dramatically further so why the enormous eyes? Large eyes are thought to be better at seeing large objects that give off their own light in deep water.
