The bird Island race was also the first test for the new bow pole extension for Anthony Bell’s Perpetual Loyal recently completed by the McConaghy team in Sydney. Racing back from Bird Island on Saturday afternoon Perpetual Loyal launched the new A2 Spinnaker which was delivered by North Sails in Mona Vale on Saturday morning. Measuring over 1000m2 in area the new sail and longer bow pole combination will help Perpetual Loyal surf her way to Hobart with pro surfer Sally Fitzgibbons at the helm. Video here. McConaghy have also recently completed some modifications to the under water appendages designed by Juan Yacht Design.

S/V Karayato is a 2004 TRT 1200, for sale by owner. She is a Norwegian designed performance catamaran. This boat was modified at the yard by the previous owner to be more suitable as a liveaboard than the original TRT 1200 design. The bridge deck is lowered to make room for a spacious deck house with galley, a sofa that sits eight and a navigation station. The mast and rig is from 2013. The furling system, genoa and mainsail were bought new in 2019 and the jib is from 2022 . Karayato is quick, strong and a lot of fun to sail. Dietro suggerimento, puntiamo Road Town, sull’isola di Tortola. Finiti gli impegni burocratici, torniamo a bordo per lavorare fino a tarda sera. Domani rimarremo qui per fare spesa e lavatrici, poi ci sposteremo verso Virgin Gorda, paradiso in terra.
