Questo due giorni sono un incubo meteorologicamente parlando. Avevamo visto l’arrivo del brutto tempo, per questo siamo volati lungo la Croazia e siamo arrivati in anticipo in Italia. Volevate mica che rischiassimo di bucare il 5 ottobre per il vento????? Fuori discussione. Quindi eccoci qui, vicino a casa, all’ancora, ad aspettare il momento del ritorno e a ripercorrere i passati 362 giorni. Quante miglia, quante esperienze, quanti nuovi amici. Pensate che due di loro verranno a trovarci dalla vecchia e bella Brindisi… li avete già visti in diversi reel 😄 Ma torniamo a noi. Oggi vento e pioggia. Di quelle che quasi ti domandi perché sei ancora all’ancora. Infatti domani ci rifugeremo in un porto qui vicino, perché l’arrivo della bora sarà veramente aggressivo. Finding wood rot on your timber boat is never a good thing, and I have found out quite a big section of my deck is rotten, and by rotten i mean rotten badly, turning into mush, sloppy timber soup when you try to pull it up. It needs to go as soon as possible before it spread even more. I was a bit hesitant at the start, pulling up all of the deck, the area got bigger an bigger, but in the end it all needs replacing so give me the hammer and let tear it all up! Regardless if you call it a Chinese Gybe, Death Roll or Uncontrolled Gybe they can happen in a heart beat. One second you are cruising along and the next you are lying flat in the water with little or no ability to do anything about it. This Chinese Gybe was over in an instant, cost us the race, in reflection it taught us a lot about preventing it from happening again and how to recover better if it does happen again.
