We are celebrating two massive milestones this weekend! Not only is it Memorial Day weekend, but it’s officially our 3-year anniversary as a sailing couple. To celebrate, we traded our usual dock for the historic, resilient shores of Galveston Beach, Texas. In this episode, we’re remembering the roots of the island and the holiday. From the solemn Civil War origins of Memorial Day to the Galveston Historic Pleasure Pier, this island is a monument to the human spirit. A post-race lecture discussing Rule 14 "Avoiding Contact" and what is reasonably possible and I countered with even if you are the stand on vessel getting into collisions always slows you down.
