We are celebrating two massive milestones this weekend! Not only is it Memorial Day weekend, but it’s officially our 3-year anniversary as a sailing couple. To celebrate, we traded our usual dock for the historic, resilient shores of Galveston Beach, Texas. In this episode, we’re remembering the roots of the island and the holiday. From the solemn Civil War origins of Memorial Day to the Galveston Historic Pleasure Pier, this island is a monument to the human spirit. Of course, no trip to the coast is complete without savoring the lifestyle. Day 3 of our Christmas calendar takes us to the aft cabin—our cozy retreat and one of the biggest reasons we chose a center cockpit boat! 🛥️ Here’s what makes this cabin so special: 🛌 A 160 cm wide bed that fits both of us (and our dog 🐶) comfortably. ⛽ We’re literally sleeping on top of 280 liters of diesel—don’t worry, it’s well-sealed! 😉 🌬️ The bed has slats underneath to prevent moisture buildup and keep our mattress fresh. 🔧 Beneath the bed, we house our hydraulic autopilot pump, though soundproofing is on our to-do list! For storage, we have 3 cabinets, perfect for clothes and gear—everything we need for life onboard. This cabin truly feels like home, offering comfort and functionality no matter where we sail. En effet, le métier de menuisier/ébéniste ne s'arrête pas à la fabrication et l'installation des meubles. L'aménagement des bateaux commence par l'isolation ainsi que l’installation des planchers, la fabrication, le montage et l’ajustage des meubles et l'installation des plans de travail en résine de synthèse et les vaigrages. Il s'agit donc d'un rôle très complet amenant nos compagnons à travailler différentes matières et essences de bois. ENGLISH PRESENTATION Enzo explains you the diversity of his daily job through the interior arrangement of the OVNI and Cigale yachts. Indeed, the trade of carpenter / cabinetmaker does not stop with the manufacture and installation of furnitures. The fitting out of the boats begins with the insulation as well as the installation of the floors, the manufacture, assembly and adjustment of the furnitures and the installation of the synthetic resin working plans and linings. It is therefore a very complete role, leading our companions to work with different materials and wood species.
