Red Sailboat, free sailing Bought second hand in awful condition, restored and put to good use. It came with cotton sails, albeit cut with scissors for reasons unknown (!) Also no boom and no joint to have one. Sails were sewn back, boom was added but somwhow it was too heavy. Leaned too much, cotton caught water and boat capsized. Luckily I found a fiberglass rod from a broken umbrella, and some synthetic fabric for some new sails. This is the first run, tethered

This little guy was bobbing around our boat this morning for at least an hour - FAST ASLEEP!! I touched him a couple of times as he came right up against the sugar scoop and was amazed at just how hot his little flipper "solar panel" was! Seals float around like this with their flippers out of the water in the sunshine, as a way of warming up, so I thought that his flipper would obviously be warmer than our 13 degreeC water but was really surprised by just how hot it was. He was totally oblivious to my touching him over and over - super relaxed and fast asleep.
