The crew on J109 Going to Red had some close tussles with J109 Ctrl-J during Cork Week 2024. For the most part Going to Red was faster upwind with Ctrl-J making up ground on the runs. GTR was doing all it could to slip down to leeward to stay in front of the fast charging blue spinnaker. We recently navigated the uncharted Kinabatangan River, aka 560 km of wild, winding waterways home to monkeys, elephants and other rare and endangered wildlife. The surface looks calm, but at night, those glowing eyes of giant crocs in the torchlight remind you who really owns this place... very splash had our crew looking twice! Along the way, we met locals who live entirely from this river, their homes perched on its banks. Guys, would you sail up this river?? Let us know in the comments below!
