We sail on the good ship Saracen, a Beneteau Oceanis 473 from 2006. Out journey started in Scotland in early 2023 and our ultimate goal is to sail around the globe …..slowly. We make these videos mostly for family and friends and to create a record of our adventures for ourselves so that we can look back at them later in life, were not in it to make money (way to hard). Halekai is Hawaiian for ‘house on the sea’ – and what a house! The name of the owners’ previous yacht also has Hawaiian origins, so this elegant, powerful sloop is a natural progression for a highly experienced repeat customer. Based on a Bloemsma fabricated aluminum hull, Halekai, the fourth yacht in the 128 series, was completed by Pendennis Shipyard in Falmouth, UK and is the second successful project we have completed with the Cornish yard. Although based on the well-proven 128 hull design, Halekai is highly customized with a flexible deckplan package for regatta performance, specialized kite surfing and sailboard stowage in the amidships cockpit and a custom navigation station in the aft deckhouse which leads into the working cockpit. Hoek Design is responsible for the general arrangement and all the interior joinery and worked closely with celebrated American interior designer Ken Fulk who has injected a Hawaiian influence. The yacht can accommodate eight guests, including the owners, and five crew.
