Progress continues on Hull #006 as this classic Hinckley Picnic Boat 37 moves closer to the finish line. This week in the shop: • Hull fully faired and in final prep for paint • Structural glasswork largely complete, including a fully re-glassed engine room with new stringers engineered for the repower • New helm pod fabrication underway • Varnish nearing completion — all sealer coats finished, final build coats up next • Twin Volvo D6 480HP diesels have arrived from W.W. Williams and Power Products and have been test-fit with the new stringer layout We’re excited to partner with Raymarine on their latest electronics and digital switching, and Volvo for their marine diesel power solutions. Stay tuned as this PB37 continues to come together.

The C-Cat 38 is an upgrade of the successful C-Cat 37, a sailing catamaran with a sporty feel, great comfort, and refined design. Designed by Marc Lombard Yacht Design Group with the technical team at Comar Yachts. ▫️ The new C-Cat 38 is 73 cm longer than the C Cat 37, aiming for 0.9 knots additional boat speed at 10 knots of wind. In the cockpit, a comfortable aft bench and a table that’s 35 cm longer have been added. Among the new features are the composite davits and wheels, bowsprit, carbon posts, and bimini. The sail plan will be more powerful due to the increased area of the mainsail and the Code 0 sail. ▫️ Emphasis has been placed on performance and the ability to navigate well in all sea and wind conditions. The C-Cat 38, in addition to its generous sail plan, has a refined hull shape, the result of thorough study, allowing it to sail in light winds while delivering the same performance as a monohull cruiser-racer when sailing upwind and hitting exciting speeds in fresher conditions. ▫️ Comfort is delivered with the pronounced chines in the topsides, which gives a slender profile in the water before broadening above. Shown here is my custom designed 40-foot racer/cruiser Soulmates. To get your frozen blood flowing in the midst of the northern hemisphere winter, here are a few clips of Soulmates jib reaching at 10 knots during the 2019 186-mile Block Island Race. Thanks to Rodger Martin who designed the boat and to Eric Goetz who built the boat in 1992, we can sail off the wind at great speeds effortlessly. Her UK Sailmakers Titanium sails have four seasons of distance racing, windward leewards and weeknight races. In a few months these sails will begin their fifth season. I can’t wait.
