The Figure 8 is one of the greatest knots of all. This is the figure 8 stoppper knot, used to prevent line from slipping through grommets, pulleys and the like. It's used in sailing, boating, climbing and ton of other applications. This is also the first part of a proper figure 8 knot for climbing. While not the most practical way to tie this knot, it looks kinda cool. The first orca (nicknamed Moby Doll) ever to be caught alive was captured off East Point on Saturna Island. East Point is one of the view places in the world where you can get close to orcas from the land. The resident whales swim past twice a day East Point is only a couple of minutes walk from our summer house on Saturna island, so we see them frequently
