The unique and intricate death customs of Tana Toraja have been celebrated for centuries, making them some of the most complex and expensive funeral traditions in the world. Before Dutch Christian Missionaries arrived, Torajans practiced Animism, the belief that non-human entities possess a spiritual essence. Despite now nominally following other religions, the Torajans still practice their ancient funeral customs which are known to be some of the most elaborate in the world. During their lives, the Torajans work extremely hard to accumulate wealth. But unlike other societies, the Tarajans do not save their money to achieve materialistic status for themselves, rather they save for a good send off in death. In fact, it is the extravagance of their funeral, which marks a family’s position in Torajan society. People will live under the same roof as a deceased family member for months or years until the money is in place to pay for their elaborate, ritual funeral. After leaving Our Dreamtime at anchor in Palopo under the watchful eyes of our buddy boaters, Daniel and Emma, we travel over treacherous roads into the highlands of Sulawesi to the town of Rante Pao in the Region of Tana Raja. We’ve sailed nearly 200 miles and spent hours driving through the mountainous jungle to attend the funeral of someone we don’t even know. Why? Because it’s Tana Toraja and not just any funeral. In this episode we experience one of these remarkable rituals firsthand before exploring the incredible natural beauty and unique culture of this world famous region of Indonesia. #indonesia #livingdead #deathrituals

Alexander Marine as exclusive importers of Galeon Yachts are pleased to present the all-new Galeon 480 FLY model to the Australian and New Zealand market. Galeon Yachts, synonymous with precise craftsmanship and uncompromisable success in yacht manufacturing, proudly presented the debut of its latest marvel, the 480 FLY, at the prestigious 2024 Cannes Yachting Festival. The 480 FLY combines cutting-edge design with luxurious details, offering the perfect vessel for memorable on-water experiences. Starting at the transom, the yacht features a hydraulic swim platform, making water access a breeze whether you're diving in or launching your tender. The platform is equipped with an integrated swim ladder on the starboard side making it easily accessible for all ages, and for those who love to cook while enjoying the sea breeze, an optional grill is integrated into the transom. Stepping up into the spacious cockpit via either port or starboard stairways, you'll find one of two versatile seating arrangements. Choose between a fixed U-shaped aft bench seat for comfortable lounging, or the exciting swiveling U-shaped aft bench seat that rotates 180 degrees to face completely aft - this option includes a tender garage adding convenience to your aquatic adventures. Galeon Yachts are renowned for their innovative Beach Mode, which features a deployable balcony to port that extends the cockpit. The fold-out balconies features glazing so guests can see the water below their feet and railings for added safety. The sliding doors to port and starboard allow for a pop-up extended galley counter with bar stools and an extended saloon settee creating additional dinettes. Stepping inside, the expansive door opens the entire width, blurring the line between inside and out. The layout includes a practical aft galley to port with an L-shaped design, featuring an under-bench refrigeration, a two-element induction cooktop, a combination microwave oven, and ample storage, making meal prep a breeze. Forward of the galley, the U-shaped dining settee to port provides plenty of seating around a height-adjustable table, which can convert into an additional berth if needed. For entertainment, a Hi/Lo TV discreetly tucks away when not in use, keeping the space open and uncluttered. At the helm to starboard, you'll find a bench seat that can fold up, giving you the flexibility to stand while navigating. Equipped with Raymarine electronics, the helm is designed for both style and function, ensuring that every journey is smooth and enjoyable. Below deck, the yacht features a three-cabin layout, offering comfortable accommodations for up to six guests. The midship master cabin boasts an island queen bed, a private ensuite, and ample storage, including a large hanging wardrobe. A sofa to port adds to the luxurious feel, and an optional TV ensures you can relax in style. The forward VIP cabin features a centreline queen bed and shares access to a bathroom that doubles as a day head. Complete with two hanging wardrobes and a vanity, this cabin exudes sophistication. The starboard guest cabin is designed with single over-and-under berths, perfect for additional guests or family members. Moving up to the flybridge, a set of stairs leads from the cockpit to this elevated social space. An aft L-shaped settee surrounds a fold-out table, perfect for alfresco dining or enjoying drinks with friends. Forward, another U-shaped settee provides additional seating near the upper helm, which reflects the same lower helm Raymarine electronics. A well-appointed wet bar to starboard includes a sink, fridge, ice maker, and optional grill, ensuring that refreshments are always close at hand. A bimini provides shade, ensuring the flybridge remains a comfortable retreat even in the midday sun. At the bow, U-shaped sun loungers with adjustable backrests offer the perfect spot for relaxation with the option to have a shade bimini for our warm climate. A hatch provides direct access to the VIP cabin below. With its perfect blend of innovation, luxury, and functionality, the Galeon 480 FLY offers an unparalleled on-water experience, making it the ideal yacht for those seeking adventure and elegance in equal measure. Please note: Alexander Marine is the official Galeon Yachts dealer for Australia and New Zealand. BUONA ONDA 🌊
