Day 3. A bit of a restart. After stopping in Terceira, it was time to leave again. And what really stood out to me today was just how… easy it felt. Before my previous sails, everything always felt big and stressful. Rushing to get ready before the weather window closed, fixing things last minute, feeling nervous before leaving. This time was completely different. The boat had been ready for days. I had already provisioned. I knew the weather was good. There was no stress, no panic. At some point I just thought, “yeah, I’m gonna head to France now.” Like it was a completely normal thing to say. And of course, when I actually said it out loud to people, they looked at me like I was insane. Which honestly made me laugh a little. But it felt really cool to realize that somewhere along the way, this has become normal to me. Crossing oceans alone doesn’t feel huge and terrifying anymore. It just feels like sailing. And that’s a pretty big milestone. The sailing itself was also absolutely beautiful. I left in the middle of a regatta with the local yacht club, which made the departure feel really special. Then I just kept sailing with the wind behind me, eventually setting twin headsails for the first time. And wow. The boat felt amazing. The sailing felt effortless. Everything just worked. Day 5. Today felt like a turning point. After feeling so bad yesterday, I decided it was time to step things up a little. I need my routines. I need to feel good in my body again. And I realized something. After the previous crossing, I had slowly gotten into the habit of eating more candy and chocolate all the time. During that crossing it kind of became comfort food because things were rough… and somehow that habit just stayed with me without me really noticing. And out here, I noticed I was eating chocolate just because it was there, not because I actually wanted it. So today I decided: enough. Cold turkey on sugar. New workout plan. Back to eating properly. Enough protein. Enough real food. Basically… time to get ripped at sea. And honestly, the difference was immediate. I worked out, danced around the boat, ate good food, and the whole energy of the day completely changed. It genuinely turned into one of the best days so far. And I think the coolest part is realizing that sometimes all it takes is a decision. A small switch in your mind. One moment you’re stuck in a bad cycle, and the next you decide to take care of yourself again. Day 13. My last day at sea. I saw land in the morning, but it still took until sunset to finally arrive. Funny how that works. After nearly two weeks looking at nothing but ocean, land suddenly feels both incredibly close and impossibly far away. Today felt like the end of one adventure and the beginning of another. The crossing is done. The lessons have been learned. The boat has been tested. And now the focus shifts completely. From here, it’s all about preparing Showgirl. Finishing the projects, solving the problems, and getting everything ready for what comes next. Because this crossing was never really the goal. It was one more step toward the bigger dream. Now it’s time to get to work.
