Day 3. A bit of a restart. After stopping in Terceira, it was time to leave again. And what really stood out to me today was just how… easy it felt. Before my previous sails, everything always felt big and stressful. Rushing to get ready before the weather window closed, fixing things last minute, feeling nervous before leaving. This time was completely different. The boat had been ready for days. I had already provisioned. I knew the weather was good. There was no stress, no panic. At some point I just thought, “yeah, I’m gonna head to France now.” Like it was a completely normal thing to say. And of course, when I actually said it out loud to people, they looked at me like I was insane. Which honestly made me laugh a little. But it felt really cool to realize that somewhere along the way, this has become normal to me. Crossing oceans alone doesn’t feel huge and terrifying anymore. It just feels like sailing. And that’s a pretty big milestone. The sailing itself was also absolutely beautiful. I left in the middle of a regatta with the local yacht club, which made the departure feel really special. Then I just kept sailing with the wind behind me, eventually setting twin headsails for the first time. And wow. The boat felt amazing. The sailing felt effortless. Everything just worked. It honestly turned into one of my favorite sailing days so far. 🌊 ⚓ Life on the Showgirl is my journey toward one of the toughest solo sailing races on the planet: the Golden Globe Race — sailed solo, non-stop, and without modern technology. After seeing several social media broadcasts dramatizing the coming hurricane, I thought about a parody. It was all fun and games when the storm was forecasted to go north of the bay. We got a little worried when the track went south at the last minute. Shortly after filming one of these clips the weather forecast showed the chance of the storm coming in to Banderas Bay, and it was hard to think of humorous weather parodies after that! The storm did a lot of damage, but Puerto Vallarta is recovering nicely. There is still power and water and internet outages throughout the bay, but this place recovers very quickly after major disasters. My compliments to all the hard working people at CFE and the government for taking such good care of everyone.

After catching the fish, Ira (ee-ra) wasn't interested in filleting it, so I did that part. I had her at least take out the remains and throw them in the water to bring her into the process a bit. Maybe next time she'll do the filleting as well.
