The starboard start looked like it would be a golden until it got light under the dock making it difficult to roll into a tack, leaving the door wide open for a late starter on port to race out to the right before rolling into a tack perfectly on the lay line. The speed on the way to the top mark was impressive and gave them a big lead at the first mark. The team at bottom up boats love sailboat racing of all shapes and sizes, I loved taking this footage and spending a few minutes on the dock talking to some life long sailors who now enjoy racing from the peer long past the days that their sea legs have deserted them.
