Ahoy! Sailing bliss or disaster? We're leaving the Eagle Point marinara a raw sail downwind to our marina in Lake Dallas. Cyndi and I have come this far to try our hand at a downwind wing-on-wing sail plan, after an easterly beam reach, then a westward sail. We had a great time practicing the training run and the down-wind sail setup. We leave our old friend, Sneaky Pete's Grill, and Eagle Point Marina behind and press forward, sailing back to Lake Dallas in our Catalina C-30 Tall Rig sailboat named Zanadu! Amost 11 years since launching and it wass time for a good touch up of Grace's exterior. After a lot of sanding and a bit of epoxy filler, 4x coats of International GOLDSPAR varnish and 2x primer/undercoat plus 2-3x top coats of Altex ISOTAL paint (depending on the area). The trailer (now 7 years old) also had some tickle ups - cosmetic only. Not a 'showroom' finish and she still sports some deep scars from her campaigns, but I'm happy enough. Now to get back on/in the water for summer proper!
