This behind the scenes video gives some insight into why I chose the imagery that I did for this 8 layer handmade reduction linoprint, inspired by Janus, an ancient Roman god, the origin story of the Roman calendar month name of January. This video is part 1 of a 12 part series, I am challenging myself to create one new print per month based on the origin of month names from the ancient roman calendar. To be historically accurate Janus is typically presented as a two headed man, but I put my own artistic twist on this, and I hope you like it as much as I hugely enjoyed making it. ⛵ Maud Fontenoy est une navigatrice française hors du commun, connue pour ses traversées en solitaire à la rame et à la voile. 🌍 Elle s’est illustrée en 2003 en devenant la première femme à traverser l’Atlantique Nord à la rame, d’ouest en est, sans assistance. 🌊 Deux ans plus tard, elle récidive en ramant sur l’océan Pacifique entre le Pérou et la Polynésie, un périple de plus de 7 000 km ! ⏳ En 2006-2007, elle boucle un demi-tour du monde à la voile contre vents et courants, en solitaire et sans assistance, entre La Réunion et la Réunion via le Cap Horn. ⚓ Militante engagée pour la protection des océans, elle continue aujourd’hui à sensibiliser les jeunes et le grand public à travers sa fondation. #MaudFontenoy #Voile #FemmesFortes #Navigation #Aventure #Océan #Défi #Inspiration #JoyEnMer
