Join us as we explore the world of small but mighty sailboats, specifically the Waverley sailboat, a classic design that has been a staple of Strangford Lough Yacht Club for years. The Waverley sailboat is a beautiful example of traditional sailing, with its hand-built wooden boat construction and classic yacht design. As we sail across Strangford Lough, we delve into the maritime history of the area and the significance of the Waverley sailboat in the context of coastal sailing and sailboat life. The Strangford Lough Yacht Club, also known as SLYC, has a rich history of hosting classic racing events, and the Waverley sailboat is often a participant in these events. With its vintage sailboat charm and traditional sailing capabilities, the Waverley sailboat is a testament to the enduring appeal of classic sailboats and the joy of sailing on the open water. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or just starting out, this video is a must-watch for anyone interested in sailing, yachting, and the sailor life. The Waverley sailboat is a true classic, and its story is one that will resonate with anyone who loves the ocean and the thrill of sailing.
Living in a Trinidad shipyard for over a year many of the friends we've made either work in the area or are into boating or sailing. One Trini friend was heading out for a lime DDI and kindly invited us to come along - our final destination was my favourite getaway, Chacachacare! He has a small monohull sailboat that's great for Caribbean island hopping. With our catamaran having been stuck on land for over 14 months undergoing warranty repairs it felt so good to get out on the water, put a sail up and go where the wind takes us!
