Another new skilled I leanred since I bouth Stormy: caulking Here is a little definition: Caulk, to (Verb) - To make watertight by driving or caulking (usually loose cotton fibres) into a seam, followed by a coarser fibre material such as oakum then stopping with pitch or putty. Caulking (Calking) - Boat cotton, oakum or other fibres driven into planking seams to make them watertight. The oldest form of caulk consisted of fibrous materials driven into the wedge-shaped seams between boards on wooden boats or ships. Introducing the LMF 22 which was launched at the beginning of the summer for buoy and waterway maintenance operations in the lakes of Maine. Despite it's relatively small size, the boat routinely carries a cargo of 2500lbs consisting of buoys, anchors, and chain. The buoys and gear are worked via a davit at the side hull cutout. A bow thruster was also installed to help keep the boat on station. Powered by twin Yamaha SHO 115's, this boat sees a 40 knot top end speed. -Designed by Response Marine -Video by Camden Spear. #boatbuilding #maine #boat
Yellowfin is best known for building brawny offshore fishing machines, like the Yellowfin 36 center console. But they also build inshore fish-killers, and recently I had the chance to spend a day on the Yellowfin 24. After you check out this quick peek at what it was like, be sure to read the full boat review: http://features.boats.com/boat-content/2014/02/yellowfin-24-more-bait-more-casts-more-fish/
