The Stevedore's knot is a powerful stopper knot, like a super-charged Figure of Eight knot. 🔸 Make an overhand loop like you would in the figure-of-eight. Bring the working end round a couple of times instead of one (or just twist the loop) and tuck it through the original loop. Tighten Voilà! Easy! The figure 8 knot is one of if not the most used sailing stoppers knots. It is easy to tie, provides a decent sized stopper and is relatively easier to untie after load has been applied.
