The Pegasus 50 hull construction composite is made of a hybrid of carbon and glass fibres, with a PVC core and vinyl ester resin. A carefully controlled vacuum-infusion process creates a laminate of exceptional quality. The combination of glass and carbon fibres increases impact resistance while simultaneously improving structural stability and reducing displacement. The boat benefits from a monocoque construction, in which the deck, bulkheads and floors are bonded and fully laminated to the hull. This creates an extremely stiff structure, without adding unnecessary weight. J109 Going to Red was in the presence of sailing royalty during the Offshore race at Volvo Cork Week 2024. IMP slipped by to leeward as the J109 GTR raced off to the Gybe Mark before heading into the finish line in Cork Harbour.
