The crew on J109 Going to Red had some close tussles with J109 Ctrl-J during Cork Week 2024. For the most part Going to Red was faster upwind with Ctrl-J making up ground on the runs. GTR was doing all it could to slip down to leeward to stay in front of the fast charging blue spinnaker. OCC members, Fred and Sandy onboard their catamaran Dakota Dream, were anchored at Antigua when this happened to their generator. It seems someone forgot to turn off the hot-wired raw water pump for their Northern Lights M673, 6 kw generator when they left the boat for Happy Hour. Upon returning to their boat, they realized the problem and shut down the still running raw water pump, too late. The generator was hydro-locked. This is what happens when an injector is removed to get raw water out of the cylinders. Ouch! Diesel and salt water sprays everywhere!!!
