Last week, with much care and attention, mighty cranes turned the impressive aluminium casco hull of the new motor yacht ‘FENIX’ right side up. Suspended in just a few slings, it’s always a breathtaking sight — for both our team and the owners. Even after more than 100 yachts, this moment never loses its magic. ✨ FENIX | LOA 22.84 m | 89.05 t | Aluminium hull ISO CE Category A / Bureau Veritas Young Ice Team FENIX / Collaboration: • Design by @van_oossanen • Aluminium hull by @kmyachtbuilders • Carbon superstructure by @pdcomposites • Final outfitting by @muldershipyard • Owner’s representative: Nautical Contractors Footage by @guyfleury_photography kmyachtbuilders.com #kmyachtbuilders #aluminiumyachtbuilding #fenix #motoryachtbuilding #yacht

Practicing the use of radar provide you with an edge when you really need it. We sailed from Sandoy to Hestur (the faroe islands) and the fog prevented us to see the islands. When we were arriving at Hestur, the radar and navionics help us identify the ferry which was heading to Hestur as well, so, we made a U turn to give the ferry priority to head in first. Then, the tide was running fast, so Skipper Chris did the ferry gliding to let us have a smooth and safe entrance.

Here we are rigging a reef line while underway. We had swapped the laminate main sail out for the Dacron main sail before leaving the dock, because it was quite windy and the Dacron sail is more robust. But we didn't rig the second reef line properly and had to pull it out in order to raise the sail. So here we are sailing under the first reef, while I climbed onto the boom to re-rig the second reef. I’m wearing a climbing harness attached to the spinnaker halyard for safety.
