In order to get our sailboat home ready to explore the Caribbean Sea it was time to reinstall the genoa sail! Nicknamed "the dummy sail" on our boat, it's the easiest of our sails to use, able to be operated by one person back in the helm of our Leopard 45 catamaran, and used in a wide range of wind conditions. Instead of antifouling, we polish our prop to keep it clean and efficient. The process? Scrape off barnacles Dissolve calcium buildup with acid Polish with progressively finer compounds for a smooth finish ✨ Finally, we grease the prop, add a fresh zinc anode, and apply a final coat of Brasso before launch! Note, that this depends on the condition of your propeller. If it’s really fouled or previously painted, you might need a more thorough process - like we did last year.
