We watch media that indoctrinates us to think that this unsustainable way of life is normal, a goal to work towards. Weird. Think of it this way. For any issue affecting our society, our lives, is there an entity that is profiting from it? If yes, then what possible motivation could that entity have to actually solve said issue? The the Over Hand Knot is one of if not the simples of knots to tie, chances are you already know how to tie it you just don't know what it is called. It is a stopper knot that can be used to stop sheet and halyards from running through cleats and pulleys.
