Lake Lipno in the Czech Republic provided an unforgettable week of Olympic sailing as the best young sailors from across Europe gathered to compete for medals at the Junior European Championships. A wide variety of wind conditions and sunny weather ensured exciting racing and great experiences on and off the water. The 2024 European Junior Championships in the 49er and 49erFX classes, together with the Eurocup event in the 29er class, brought an exciting 4 days of intense racing to the Lake Lipno for over 140 competitors from 18 nations. The event was held under the auspices of the President of the Czech Republic Mr. Petr Pavel. On Thursday, despite a favourable forecast, there was only one race in the 49er and 49erFX classes as a storm thwarted the plans of the race committee. Lock your dinghy with the biggest chain you can get. Also, lock your outboard to your dinghy chassis. Overall, make your dinghy look harder to steel than all the other boats around you. Also, there is a such thing as dinghy etiquette! Use a long painter so not to hog the dockside real estate. This enables more boats to get on the dock. And put your outboard down. When leaving it up, the propeller and lower shaft can cut into and damage another dinghy. :) #sailingexperience #sailinglife #boatlife

On Saturday 1st February, Comanche Raider III crew members Ramon Sant Hill, Daniel Bartolo and Mark Muscat joined the Serious Fun crew. Owned by Jan Versteeg and Sally Jackson, this was this boat’s first foray in the Club’s event. Joining there were Kurt Camilleri and Paul Masters who all found this cruise to be an excellent opportunity to get into the RMYC Sailing scene and are looking forward to the next event.
