The team on GTR had a great weeks sailing in Volvo Cork week 2024. There were plenty of action adventure and excitement through the week with team showing improvement the more time they spent on the boat. By the end of the week we where beating one of the other J109 and getting closer to the leading two, on the finishes to the offshore race we topped out at nearly 11 knots of SOG with the tide push us along on a lovely reach into the harbour. ► Full test in Multihulls World N°197. ► Two years: that’s how long it’s taken to complete the Lagoon 60 project from A to Z - the replacement for the emblematic 630, that has seen unrivalled success in this size of catamaran (169 sailing models and another 58 examples of the 630 MY, the power version!). Seeking to ride a powerful wave of events motivated by the celebration of the shipyard’s 40th anniversary, Lagoon organized a world premiere event at home, at one of the Bordeaux yard’s platforms, where all models over 50 feet are built. The waterfront event was intended to be festive and even celebratory, with the presence of former international basketball player Boris Diaw, the brand’s ambassador. Lagoon also took the opportunity to showcase their full range of 40 to 77-foot yachts, both afloat and ashore. In terms of outline, the new 60-foot model, as ever signed by VPLP, presents a silhouette relatively similar to that of the 55, except that the sail plan uses the overlapping genoa of the latest 51. The main innovation on deck concerns the aft cockpit, literally transformed into a beach club by eliminating the traditional bench seat. This enormous surface area is further enlarged by an aft platform and fold-down bulwarks. As for relaxation space, the forward cockpit and huge flybridge, equipped with a full galley, are not to be outdone. For the interior, the designers have managed to ensure totally flush circulation from one cockpit to the other, including of course the nacelle - a floor without steps, and that changes everything! Sailstar har träningskvällar från början av maj in i september, två vardagkvällar i veckan och många helger. Vi seglar främst våra Aira 22:or och ibland våra RS Zest jollar. Vi tränar på bana, fri segling, väjningsregler och en kväll i veckan är det sprint race. Platsen är Viggbyholm, Täby strax norr om Stockholm. Du kommer enkelt dit med Roslagsbanan station Näsbypark. Sailstars träningar är främst till för dem som gått våra grundkurser, antingen med jolle, dagseglarna eller vår stora båt, en Beneteau 50. Du är även välkommen om du har Seglarintyg 1 och har kunskap om hur du kommer ut och sätter segel på en mindre segelbåt, vi använder generellt inte våra elmotorer för att komma ut och in till bryggan. För dig som vill prova på att segla har vi liknande kvällar för Prova-på segling där en instruktör följer med i båten.
