J109 Going to Red was in the presence of sailing royalty during the Harbour Race of Cork Week 2024. After rounding the harbour mark off the main city Going to red cross, the two time winner of the famous Fastnet race on a two sail reach across the harbour front. Just to prove that I'd done it, I recorded the moment I got the third sail up on my tod. As I say in the clip it may only have been 4 knots and the fenders were still out but it was quite an achievement for someone who has only been sailing for two years. And we’re off! 🌎 Today marks the start of our passage across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. Light winds made for a slow start, but nature put on a show—dolphins, small whales, and even turtles, some swimming upside down! We checked to make sure they were okay, and luckily, they were. With the wind dying, we’ll be motoring through the night, but a big highlight was testing our spinnaker setup for the first time.
