In this episode, I realized something most people never think about… are you actually supposed to eat fish scales? View the details and cost with my affiliate links below: KNIVES: https://amzn.to/4c00kdR AIR FRYER: https://amzn.to/4kV43f5 After buying croaker and removing the scales in Part 1, I noticed something strange — some trout and salmon from the store have scales removed, and some don’t. It seems random. Even worse? My girlfriend has been eating them because she assumed they were already cleaned. In this quick 3-minute breakdown, I talk about: • Do some store-bought fish still have scales • Is it OK to eat them • Are fish scales are safe to eat • How to properly remove them fish scales • What to look for before filleting This leads into our full fillet + fish roll recipe episode coming next. If you’ve ever wondered about salmon skin, trout scales, or how to clean fish properly — this one’s for you. Subscribe for more cooking on the water, seafood prep, and real kitchen knowledge from Pirate Rodney at Sailing Into Nirvana! In tis episode: fish scaling, should you eat fish scales, removing fish scales, how to scale fish, trout scales, salmon scales, croaker fish cleaning, fish fish scaling tutorial, seafood prep tips, cleaning whole fish, scaling fish tutorial, are fish scales edible, fish skin vs scales, grocery store fish preparation, cooking whole fish 🎵 Copyrighted music licensed from Lickd. 🪢 Sunday Boat Tip [1/52] 🪢 Did you know that you can use common cooking oil to keep your boat toilet’s flushing system smooth and easy flushing? It’s really simple, you just take a tablespoon of the oil you have at hand and pour in into the toilet. Then, in empty mode, you pump a few pumps and then it’s done. Do this 1-2 times every week and you’ll soon see a difference! The oil will keep all the internal rubber parts soft and prolong their life span, meaning less shitty maintenance for you 💩 We usually do this in the evening so it can sit for the night 😴 Extra tip: If you have canned food that’s preserved in oil (like sun dried tomatoes or mushrooms) it’s perfect to use the oil that’s left in the can before throwing it out. Be sure to save this post to remember it the next time you see your boat toilet 🚽
