We woke up exhausted, only to witness another boat drag its anchor and nearly wreck right onto the beach! With zero sleep, we headed straight out into the elements—battling punishing winds, heavy squalls, and choppy seas all day. But the real test started at dark. Sailing straight into the night, we had to weave our way through heavy shipping traffic and hazardous navigation during an incredibly grueling night watch. Thankfully, the tough passage paid off. Episode 275 After 3 grueling weeks on the hard applying our own DIY copper coating, our catamaran is finally back where she belongs! The relief is amazing, but boat life always keeps us on our toes. We head round to the Duck Ponds in Townsville to test our brand-new Muir Storm 1250 windlass, only to realize our wiring isn't thick enough. Episode 271 We’re in Townsville, and what started as a routine outboard fix quickly turned into an absolute mechanical marathon. 😅 First, our dinghy outboard stops passing water. We head down to a local breakers here in Townsville to grab some replacement parts, but after putting it all back together, things go from bad to worse. A closer look under the hood reveals the engine is completely rotted out and totally worthless. Episode 267 We’re leaving the turquoise waters of Great Keppel Island behind and heading somewhere most boats never go. After an incredible time exploring the hidden gems of Great Keppel, it was time to pull anchor and find some solitude. Episode 266 The contrast of the Queensland coast is on full display in this episode! We start our stay in Gladstone anchored near a massive coal power station, only to wake up the next morning with the boat completely blanketed in black coal dust. It was a mess, but the journey had to continue. After a tricky search for a new anchorage around the industrial harbor, we eventually made tracks for the exit and set our sights on Great Keppel Island (Woppa). The passage turned into a wild ride with 30 knots of wind and big following seas—true blue water sailing at its most exciting! Once safely anchored in the turquoise waters of Great Keppel, we head ashore to explore: Wildlife Encounters: Meeting some very bold (and hungry!) local birds at the cruiser camp. Out in a field we roll them out, admire them… and then the excitement crashes.
