Episode 261 We hit the road to Ballina to pick up our brand‑new sails from our good friend Fiona, buzzing the whole way back to Yamba. Out in a field we roll them out, admire them… and then the excitement crashes. Episode 253 After a Storm We set off from Bermagui on a 110‑mile passage to Currarong, just past Jervis Bay — and of course we chose to leave right after a low‑pressure system tore through. The result? Windy, messy, lumpy conditions that made the first few hours… let’s call it “character building.” But once the breeze settled into a steady blow, the sail turned into one of those wild, grin‑plastered, hang‑on‑tight rides that remind you why you love doing this in the first place. ⛵ Bermagui → Eden → Merimbula: The Weather Window That Never Came In this episode 252 we sail from Bermagui down to Eden on the east coast of Australia, hoping to catch a weather window to cross Bass Strait and finally make it to Tasmania. After a week of waiting in Eden with nothing promising on the horizon, we head 10 miles north to Merimbula to explore a new town and wait things out. Three more weeks pass… and still no safe weather window. We explore, we hope, we check forecasts obsessively — but the opportunity never arrives. After four long weeks of waiting, we make the tough call to abandon our plan to sail to Tasmania and turn north instead. It’s a gutting decision, but safety comes first.
