The final offshore stage of The Ocean Race Europe 2025 started with painfully light winds as the IMOCA fleet left Genova for the 1,600-nautical mile sprint to Boka Bay, Montenegro. On board Malizia – Seaexplorer, Boris Herrmann and crew fought through a slow first night at sea, drifting along the Italian and French coasts and constantly switching sails to keep the boat moving. At times the fleet managed bursts over 10 knots, but mostly it was about patience, focus, and trimming every puff of breeze. By Monday afternoon, the fleet had compressed again in a wind hole southeast of Nice, with just a dozen miles separating first to last.
