Towering cliffs, bleach-white sandy beaches, crystal-clear ice-cold waters, lobster diving. A coast you can't beat. We’ve just left Hobart and are back underway, continuing our journey around the country. We're leaving Port Arthur, rounding Tasman Island and Cape Pillar and lobster diving in Tasmania. Cold plunges, octopus attacks and mass murder…It’s hard to imagine all that’s happened here, in a place with such impressive landscape, and marine life. We’re in Tasmania, Australia’s isolated island state with a cruel and dark past. Its treacherous surrounding seas made it a natural prison ideal for Britain to put their most difficult. We’re pulling out of the marina after resolving some issues, hoping this time we can finally get our lap of Australia back underway. Enjoying the episodes? One mistake and we’ve regrettably made a new booking in the boat yard over a piece of rubber. We were just here, and briefly free from the yard, back in the elements and doing what we love living full time on our 34-ft boat. But our celebrations abruptly ceased when we heard a concerning noise from below the water line. Check our Muir here https://muir.com.au/ Made in Tasmania! Enjoying the episodes? We weren’t expecting this to be the thing that takes us back to the boat yard. We’ve just spent a hectic 17 days in the boat yard, you know what it’s like, long days, dirty work, cramped into tight spaces and just a bit of swearing. But at last, it comes together. And at last, we’re back to doing what we love most about boat life. But just as quickly as we felt the high, it all comes crashing down… Enjoying the episodes? In 2020, we were young with no money behind us, just this sailboat as our home. But if we could live cheaply and find reception, we could set off on a circumnavigation of Australia. Now, years later, we’re celebrating the end of a chapter. Kicking it all off is the relaunch of our boat in Hobart. With sparkling topsides and fresh antifoul, we’re ready to splash and get underway, near and far, there’s just one thing that may stop us in our tracks. Enjoying the episodes? We put off the job as not only was the leak fairly minor, but we may have lacked the confidence, money and time to do this upgrade. But now we’re in Hobart, Tasmania & we’re finally able to tackle it. Osmosis repairs and tackling our sea water leaks. This is boat ownership, so we love when services make it a whole lot easier. Boaters World is offering you 10% off all products on their site www.boatersworld.com.au Check em out and use our code! SAILINGNAKAMA10 We’ve pulled into Hobart, Tasmania, just in time for the winter. We needed a break from sailing, and our boat needed some attention. We thought it’d be a short stopover, but we’ve decided to stay until the weather clears again. Allowing us time to drag our boat onto land and give her some love. We’ve just spent the first couple of days beginning to deconstruct the boat and unfortunately in the process, we found a below waterline issue we ought to address. We're doing osmosis repairs and begin the job of replacing all our seacocks. Which requires bashing out holes in our boat. We're fully committed now. Enjoying the episodes? It’s time to start cracking into the list of jobs that brought us back into civilisation. We’ve just arrived in Hobart, after tackling the west and south coasts. We were trying hard to get here for summer, but as we missed it, arriving closer to winter. It was getting cold, and things were beginning to break at an increasing rate. Could you live in isolation for the rest of your life? Somewhere with no road access, no shops, no neighbours. Melaleuca in Port Davey is deep within Tasmania's wilderness.
