This natural wonder, shaped by time and the powerful forces of nature, offers a fascinating blend of history, geology, and underwater beauty that will leave you in awe. Canal Rocks holds a rich history that dates back centuries. Originally formed through the gradual erosion of the ancient granite coastline, these iconic rock formations have served as a navigational landmark for sailors and fishermen for generations. The name "Canal Rocks" is derived from the narrow channels and canals that have been carved out by the relentless pounding of the waves, creating a mesmerizing interplay of land and sea. Have fun joining us on our adventure. ALBANY to HAMELIN BAY - Part 1 Are you ready to embark on a thrilling sailing adventure along the stunning Western Australian coast? Join us as we set sail from Albany to Hamelin Bay, braving rough seas, the usual Albany cold and windy weather, and experiencing the beauty of overnight sailing and breathtaking sunrises. On board: Captain Coby, Yvonne and boat kitty Basil. Albany: A Challenging Start Our journey begins in Albany, a picturesque port city known for its rugged coastline and historical charm. As we set sail from our hometown, we are immediately greeted by rough seas and strong winds, what a surprise... Who are we kidding, this is the typical Albany weather to be honest, grey, drizzly, rainy and choppy water. Which is exactly why we decided to get out of here and not suffer through another cold winter down south. YAY Overnight Sailing: As night falls, we continue our journey under the cloudy sky, with the loud splashing of the waves and the strong wind ratteling in the sails. Working 3 hour shifts, it is going to be a short and tiring night for both of us. On top of it all, at around 2am the strong wind chafed through the halyard of our foresail, it snapped and we had to safe our foresail and tied it down on the deck in the pitch black battling the strong winds. Cape Leeuwin: A Landmark to Remember As we make our way around Cape Leeuwin, the southwestern tip of Australia, we are in awe of the dramatic cliffs and powerful currents that define this iconic landmark. Hamelin Bay: A Paradise Unveiled In the beautiful afternoon sun we are finally greeted by the breathtaking beauty of Hamelin Bay. The tranquil waters, pristine beaches, and abundant marine life make this secluded paradise a true gem of the Western Australian coast. We drop anchor in the bay, ready to explore its wonders and immerse ourselves in its natural splendor. Come along and join the adventure! Follow us on Instagram: @yvonnemarianna.travels
Welcome to my first Video of the day I bought my sailboat STORMY. She's an old boat so after the sea trial I decided to get her lifted out of the water and a survey done before making the decision of buying her (i Know I knida had my mind made up beforehand already but still...) And this is what she looks like and what the first 3 weeks of being a boat owner looked like... A LOT OF WORK. But hey I'll hopefully learn how to sail and get to enjoy her later.
