We explore some of the chartering hotspots on Lefkada, Meganisi, and Ithaka in the southern Ionian, gate crash a wedding and run into Mark Zuckerberg's yacht. PLUS: Candice had an idea, she'll give you a FREE haircut… on your own boat, provided you collect two bags of trash first. So you ever see us out there… bring two bags of trash and Candice might just sort your hair out 😉 If you're wondering, she's a multi award winning hairdresser, so this is really an opportunity to take advantage of!
Two boats travelling in the same direction means it's a race! Our friends Ed and Scarlett on their beautiful Fontaine Pajot Elba 45 had to put in fuel after leaving Corfu, which gave us a head start to get to Sivota. They're much faster than us, but were they fast enough to make up for the lost time refueling???
In this episode, we sail our solar electric yacht into the calm waters of Tranquil Bay in Nidri, Lefkada, one of the most peaceful anchorages in the Ionian Islands. After dropping anchor, we hike up the hillside to the magical Nidri Waterfalls. The trail takes us through rocky streams and lush scenery before reaching the icy pools beneath the falls, and despite the absolutely freezing temperature, Candice decides to jump in for a swim.
In this episode, we take our solar-powered boat out to sea for the very first time this season as we head toward the Ionian Islands. Along the way, we navigate the Lefkada Canal, another first first, with Niles happily floating through the experience on a high thanks to some meds! Once through, we’re rewarded with everything the Ionian is known for. Calm waters, stunning scenery, and a perfect anchorage that reminds us exactly why we chose this life. If you're into electric boats, off-grid living, or sailing through Greece, you’re in the right place. #solarsailing #electricboat #liveaboard #sailinggreece #ionianislands #lefkas
In this episode, we take our first trip off the season on our solar powered boat, heading toward the charming town of Vonitsa. Somehow it seems like we're faster this season, and I try to figure out why. Later with 35 knot winds on the way, we make the call to pull anchor and find safer shelter. What follows is a tense anchoring session, in a quiet bay that turns out to be one of the most special places we’ve ever visited… a bay filled with rays gliding beneath the surface. This is what we love most, turning electrons into real adventures.
The last few steps before we get back into the water, phew. Between sanding, painting, and tackling those inevitable DIY jobs, I even end up making some pretty big holes in the boat. Candice lets slip a secret: she actually enjoys boat work... And then the time comes to splash for our third season onboard our little electric catamaran!
We head out on a winter road trip to the famous Bond villain's lair from For Your Eyes Only, the incredible Monasteries if Meteora. Later we take an off season journey on our solar electric yacht. We enjoy quiet anchorages, cold winds, and see how our electric system handles shorter winter days.
Can you afford to go sailing in the Med? Most likely, I found our costs way better than expected! In this video, I break down our actual costs of 1 year living and cruising on our fully electric catamaran, covering thousands of miles through Italy, Croatia, and Greece. Starting on the hard in just outside Venice, down through the length of Croatia, across the Adriatic on our first overnight crossings, and finally into Greece, where we spent the winter aboard in Preveza Marina. This isn’t a theoretical budget or a "perfect year", these are the real numbers tracked through the year. We cover: -Mooring and marina fees (only 18 paid nights all year) -Cruising fees -Food, groceries, eating and coffee dates -Starlink internet (connected 365 days, even offshore) -Insurance, -Breakdown cover -Maintenance -Water and Electricity -The final total This was for two people and two dogs travelling thousands of miles through three countries for a full year in some of the most beautiful cruising grounds in Europe. ----------------------------------- We live on a 1976 Catalac 9M that we converted to a fully electric boat. All our energy comes from our solar panels and we use it for propulsion, cooking and even making water! Our boat is 9m long by 4.2m wide and weighs 5 tons. We have 3200W of solar, two 6kW ePropulsion outboards, and a 14.4kWh lifepo4 battery pack.

This time it’s not me behind the camera, it’s my wife’s turn to tell the story! In this video she shares a typical day in her life living on our boat, and (in her own words) how I convinced her to move aboard in the first place. From the small routines that make up boat life, to her honest take on what it’s really like living afloat, this is a side of our adventure you haven’t seen before. If you’ve ever wondered what boat life is like from her perspective, or how someone can be persuaded (or tricked!) into trading land for life on the water, you’ll enjoy this one. #boatlife #liveaboard #electricboat #sailing #herstory
This video marks the end of my sailing season. I visit Vonitsa before heading into a marina in Preveza where the boat will rest for the winter. Looking back, it has been an incredible journey of 2,340 nautical miles, starting just outside Venice, sailing down the entire Croatian coast, back into Italy, and finally into Greece, heading past Corfu to end in Preveza. Every mile was powered by the sun, without plugging in once. It has been a season of challenges, quiet passages, and unforgettable places, and I am already looking forward to what comes next. #boatlife #electricboat #liveaboard #solarsailing
This isn’t just about beaches and beautiful views (though, yes, they’re stunning). It’s about choosing less, living slower, and redefining freedom. In this video, I give Patrick a haircut right on a secluded beach but the real story is in the conversation. We talk about what we actually love about boat life: ✅ The peace of slow living ✅ The power of minimalism ✅ Life without the paycheck panic ✅ Living with a tiny carbon footprint on our solar-powered home ✅ Why overheads are low, but our creativity is high And with Patrick’s job coming to an end, we’re not stressed — because this lifestyle is designed for resilience. We’ve got freedom, shelter, time and that’s worth more than any salary. Stick around till the end, we drop a little hint about a project we’ve been dreaming up. Something from Sailing Electra that just might land in your hands soon. 😉 Subscribe to follow our journey, and let us know in the comments, what would you trade for more freedom? #SailingElectra #BoatLife #SimpleLiving #OffGrid #SolarPower #Minimalism #FreedomLifestyle #CreativeLiving
In this final leg of the season, we sail from the beautiful town of Parga to Preveza, our goal for the year! This marks the end of an incredible journey: 2,340 nautical miles from just outside Venice, Italy, through the islands of Croatia, back into Italy, and across to Greece… all without plugging in to charge a single time. Our small solar powered catamaran has carried us the entire way, proving that with the right setup, you can cruise long distances using nothing but the sun. Along the way in this episode, I sail without the motors running, only the second time ever, and get a surprise when I arrive in Preveza to discover they didn’t know my boat was a catamaran… even though I sent them a picture! If you’re curious about electric cruising or solar power this one’s for you. #electricboat #solarsailing #liveaboard #boatlife #sailinggreece
Patrick and Jason go live for the first time to discuss solar electric boating, range anxiety, dealing with doubters and changes they wish @epropulsiontech would make to their customer experience. They also share the exciting news of hosting special guests in upcoming episodes who have solar electric conversion projects of their own.
