In this episode, we check out of Aruba and begin our sail toward Cartagena, Colombia and the adventure starts immediately when we spot a submarine heading underwater right as we leave! Day one brought us calm seas, good wind, and even a visit from a pod of dolphins. But as we sailed on, things started to shift the wind dropped and large swells rolled in, thanks to a distant Atlantic hurricane. We also discovered the challenges of sailing near the Barranquilla River, as massive debris fields floated out into the sea with rumors of live snakes on logs! This week aboard S/V Deinde, we soak up the final magic of Curaçao. We climb to the top of historic Fort Beekenburg for some epic views, snorkel the crystal-clear waters of Tugboat Beach surrounded by curious fish, and go searching for flamingos in the salt flats (spoiler: we found something much more peculiar 😆 ). 🌵🦩 We end our time here with a cozy sailor bonfire on the beach, saying goodbye to the incredible friends we’ve made along the way as we get ready to set sail for Aruba. This week on our family sailing adventure, we go inland to continue exploring the vibrant island of Grenada! Addy movies to the beat on the bus, we swim and jump at the stunning Annandale Waterfall, and spot a cheeky monkey in the trees. In St. George’s, we wander through the colourful spice market, grab some fresh nutmeg, and learn how chocolate is made at the House of Chocolate, with a little taste test, of course! Addy and I visit the gorgeous Tower Estate gardens, and we move our boat to True Blue, where we enjoy sweet land showers, relaxing poolside, and I finally catch up on some video editing. Grenada’s been full of flavour, adventure, and calm moments, and next, we sail to Curaçao!
