We're building the cockpit sole (floor) for our DIY wooden boat, the "Wooden Shoe" — and partway through, we found a 22mm height error between the cockpit floor and the keel that meant redoing every support, one by one. In this wooden boat build video: ✅ Marking station levels 7 & 12 for the cockpit sole plywood, including water drainage channels between hatches ✅ Building the plywood support structure Laminating thin plywood to thicker plywood with Titebond III First layer of epoxy (floating epoxy coat comes later once stringers are in) ✅ Making the stringers and filler wood ✅ Building a DIY station-line tool after losing laser access — and it worked perfectly ✅ Finding and fixing the 22mm height mistake ✅ Laying out all stringer, filler wood, and helm/passenger block lines, plus the 10mm hatch lip COMING NEXT: We cut the stations to the correct height, then install every stringer, filler wood, and block — starting at Station 8, finishing with the trough plywood between Station 8 and 7. Then we repeat it station by station. Subscribe so you don't miss it! This is real jungle boatbuilding — mistakes, fixes, and all. The keel is the heart of the boat — and in this episode, the Wooden Shoe keel finally begins to take shape. We explain why we laminate the keel instead of using one solid piece of wood, and show how we glue the laminated layers together with epoxy. This is an important part of the wooden boat building process because the keel forms the foundation of the hull and must be strong, accurately aligned, and properly bonded. At the end of the episode, we set up Station 12, the bow, and the first five stations on the build ladder. The shape of the boat is becoming visible, and this DIY wooden boat is starting to look like a real vessel. The Wooden Shoe is a 25-foot powerboat being built from scratch in our jungle workshop in Mexico. The Chechen wood refused to bend. For weeks it fought back — snapping straight every time we released the clamps. This is how we finally won. After soaking thin 5mm strips in ammonia and laminating them layer by layer — 28 layers, from 70mm all the way to 133mm thick — the bow of the Wooden Shoe is finally complete. The biggest bulkheads on our DIY wooden boat build are finally DONE! 🚢 We tackle Station 7 — the largest frame on the entire boat — after skipping it earlier when we couldn't find quality Chechen wood. Now we're back with Chechen marine triplay to build this critical structural piece in two parts using the ladder phase design. In this episode: ✅ Fabricating Station 7 — the biggest bulkhead on the boat ✅ Why we raised the cabin height by 10cm for standing headroom ✅ Fixing frame dimensions — adding 20mm of extra wood to correct a structural issue ✅ Epoxy coating and floating technique for a smooth, sealed finish ✅ Using a guide beam to keep frames perfectly aligned during glue-up We're building the Wooden Shoe — a wooden powerboat from scratch — in a jungle workshop in Mexico. The bulkheads are massive! In this episode of our wooden boat building journey, we return to Station 7 — the station we previously skipped due to a lack of quality Chechen wood. Now with Chechen marine triplay in hand, we tackle the largest bulkheads on the entire build, made extra tall by our 25cm cabin height raise. These aren't standard frames — each one is reinforced with an additional 20mm of glued wood on the inside for maximum strength where it matters most. Building a wood boat from scratch means every decision has consequences — and raising the cabin changed everything about how these bulkheads were designed and constructed. Whether you're planning your own DIY boat build or just love watching traditional woodworking in an unconventional setting, this one delivers. 🔨 In this video: • Station 7 — why we skipped it and why we're back • Extra-large bulkheads explained (25cm raised cabin impact) • 14mm Chechen marine triplay — material selection & cutting • Frame reinforcement — 20mm glued interior supports • What raising the cabin height really means for your build If you're following along with how to build a wooden boat, drop your questions below — happy to share what's working and what we'd do differently! 👍 Like, subscribe, and hit the bell to follow the full build from keel to launch. #WoodenBoatBuilding #BoatBuilding #DIYBoat #WoodBoat #BoatBuild #Bulkheads #ChechenWood #MarinePlywood #Woodworking #BoatConstruction #smallboat 00:00 Introduction 00:12 The largets bulkhead on this station 00:43 Raised cabin height with 25 cm 02:00 Description on station 7 03:44 Glueing extra 20 mm frame 03:47 Glueing the lower bulkheads 04:14 Floating Epoxy on the upper bulkheads 04:24 Applying the new better Epoxy on station 4 04:42 Applying the new Epoxy on station 5 04:46 Next video will be about the bow 04:56 Outro

In this episode of our wooden boat building journey, we tackle three critical milestones — the transom (loaded with cutouts for the chine and stringers), Station 12 built with gorgeous Brazilian Cumaru hardwood, and the motor Station 13 reinforced with extra filler wood and double gussets for maximum strength. Every cut, every joint, every decision matters when you're building a wood boat from scratch — and this stage is where the backbone of the hull truly takes shape. Whether you're dreaming of building your own small boat or just love watching skilled craftsmanship, this one's for you. 🔨 In this video: • Transom station with chine & stringer cutouts • Station 12 — Brazilian Cumaru hardwood selection & fitting • Station 13 (motor station) — extra filler wood & double gussets explained • Tips on why reinforcing the motor station matters If you're following along with how to build a wooden boat, drop your questions below — happy to share what's working and what we'd do differently! 👍 Like, subscribe, and hit the bell to follow the full build from keel to launch. #WoodenBoatBuilding #BoatBuilding #DIYBoat #WoodBoat #BoatBuild #Transom #Cumaru #Woodworking #BoatConstruction #smallboat 00:00 Presentation 00:41 Start making station 12 00:57 Ready cut and starting glueing together 01:14 Screwed some beams to get it straight 01:29 Marked the shape of the bulkhead 02:00 Cumaro hardwood for the bulkhead 02:30 The Cumaro is planned 02:58 Starting to glue the Cumaro on the thin plywood 03:23 The bulkhead with Cumaro hardwood is ready for Epoxy 04:01 Working the th station 12 frames and first layer of epoxy on the bulkhead 04:17 The station 12 is ready! This project is to build a budget wooden motor boat in the Mexican jungle. We are back after many things! Making the web stations and more. The making of all marine plywood takes a lot of time! This wooden motor boat is called Wooden Shoe. This is a unique project as we only using disponible wood from fallen trees. The original plans are for a 23 feet boat, but we have changed it to 25 feet and some extra cabin height. We make all frames and plywood. Before we could start with the boat build, we spent one year building a huge boathouse, 18 m long and 6 m wide and height. 00:00 Presentation 02:45 Explanation with construction drawing of the web stations 03:41 The problems with various drawings 04:32 How the web stations were built in Chile 05:08 The making of Web stations 9, 10 and 11 05:53 Cutting the bulkhead 06:39 Glueing the stations 07:59 JungleRanch Reduction Program 08:27 Starting with station 12 08:45 Applying floating Epoxy #sailing #boating #boatconstruction
