These are common problems we spot on boats all over the world. In this case, the pump was installed the wrong way around, causing it to pump air into the boat. A hand pump is also crucial in the event of a gas leak. We prefer using it to pump fuel out because it eliminates the risk of sparks, which could otherwise ignite the gas and cause an explosion

In this video, I explain why testing your anchor too early can be misleading when you don't have enough distance to deploy the proper amount of chain. If the anchor hasn't been set with adequate scope, a hard reverse test tells you very little—and may even force you to reset the entire maneuver.
