After seeing several social media broadcasts dramatizing the coming hurricane, I thought about a parody. It was all fun and games when the storm was forecasted to go north of the bay. We got a little worried when the track went south at the last minute. Shortly after filming one of these clips the weather forecast showed the chance of the storm coming in to Banderas Bay, and it was hard to think of humorous weather parodies after that! The storm did a lot of damage, but Puerto Vallarta is recovering nicely. There is still power and water and internet outages throughout the bay, but this place recovers very quickly after major disasters. My compliments to all the hard working people at CFE and the government for taking such good care of everyone.

Travel nurses show up in Loreto to learn to mermaid. It's a lot harder then it looks! The mermaid tails were designed for kids, and half the time their feet would fall out of the small fin pocket, creating a houdini drowning escape situation! It's not easy swimming without a mask, it took some practice to look natural underwater while having no idea what you're looking at! This is where cruisers spend the summer hiding from hurricanes in the Sea of Cortez

Volare boasts the largest cockpit of any boat in her class. The seating area is 12’ x 15’! The space is sheltered from the sun with a hard top, providing an out of eyesight spot for solar panels, and offers shade no matter which angle the sun is coming in at. Volare’s cockpit can seat 12 people for sundowners and appetizers. The main engine is a Cummins 4BT, one of the most reliable and easy to work on truck motors in the world. She cruises in the 6-7 knot range, the engine cruises at 1 gph. Her fastest crossing of the Sea of Cortez had her surfing at 9-12knots for much of the passage. Her davit system is easy and efficient to use, allowing the dinghy to be recovered or launched very quickly. 500W solar, 17 gph watermaker, 400ah LiFePO4 house battery, 200 gallons of fuel, 250 gallons of water gives the boat offshore endurance. Tips for giving good weather for boaters: 1) Don't refresh the weather report while you are reading it. 2) Give wind speed in knots, not miles per hour. 3) When the tide approaches -1ft in La Paz, that is extreme La Paz Waltz conditions 4) Do not tell people the weather is nice when it's the worst day of a 3 day norther. 5) Giving tide information that already happened is a waste, as is reading the future tide predictions. 6) The local forecast is only good for 2-3 days. 10 day forecasts are unreliable. 7) If you are a land station, don't complain about not being able to hear cruisers on boats.
