For the sixth time, Bow Caddy has been commissioned to document this wonderful Charity event for the Renewable Energy Committee and their sponsors. It was a day with the four seasons, wind, no wind, sun & torrential rain, followed by more sun to wrap up the event on the beach. A great day for everyone.

With the end of daylight savings last night, summer has definitely drawn to a close. Recently when we were out filming The Renewable Energy Cup Charity Event, some of the TP52s who were on the harbour for the Pallas Capital Gold Cup Corporate Day, sailed through our fleet so we took the opportunity to capture them in relaxed mode prior to the storm coming in from the north soaking both fleets.

An evidently very disappointed Tom Slingsby explains that despite the lottery-like conditions, the Bonds Flying Roos team simply did not sail well enough on Day 2 to capitalise on their Day 1 performance.

US Sail GP team skipper Taylor Canfield was clearly delighted with their event win and spoke glowingly of their crew with a special mention for one of the fleet’s most powerful Grinders, Anna Weis.

RSHYR 2025 | SHK Scallywag skippered by David Witt faced a close squeeze between Alithia and the pin end buoy of the start line which we suspect encouraged them to do penalty turns once they were outside of the Heads. They continued to battle Master Lock Comanche & LawConnect all the way down the Australian Coast and at one stage off the east coast of Tasmania they led the fleet, but Master Lock Comanche overtook them and the others to win Line Honours.

With 129 yachts starting the race, it is almost impossible to capture all the fleet. Bow Caddy certainly try to shoot as many as possible, but we know there are still many yachts that don’t appear in our video. Enjoy!

RSHYR 2025 | Of Double-Handers/Fully Crewed, Foils and Multihulls With the 80th Hobart run and celebrations of a small boat year still ringing in our ears, John Curnow of Sail-World and Crosbie Lorimer of Bow Caddy Media shared thoughts on how the race might evolve. Their chat ranges across divisions for fully-crewed and double-handers, the inevitability of foiling yachts in the race and the multihull community’s longstanding call to join the party. Bow Caddy Media also discussed the pluses and minuses of the double-hander/fully crewed divisions with to two very experienced ocean racers, while they were in Hobart. Ed Psaltis of Midnight Rambler discussed the fully crewed perspective, while Lincoln Dews of Toucan addressed the double-handers take. We hope to bring you those interviews in the weeks ahead. @cruisingyachtclubofaustral1612 @RolexYachting
