What is the best firearm for self-defense on a sailboat in case of a piracy attack? As long as the weapon is legal to possess where you are: Handgun: Best for minimal space to stow &. But worst for accuracy and stopping power. I would most recommend a Stainless Steel .38/.357 revolver or something like a Glock 19 in 9mm. Semi-Auto Rifle: Best for accurate over long ranger & penetration. But worst for legality likelihood to possess or size to stow. For this I'd recommend a reliable AR15 that is corrosion resistant, or a Ruger Mini 14 in stainless steel. Shotgun: Best for single shot firepower & likelihood of hitting in difficult conditions. But worst for it's large and bulky size. I would recommend a Mossberg Mariner or what I used in this video is a much cheaper alternative "Citadel Mariner".
