Join us on a catamaran sailing adventure as we divert our hurricane season migration to Charleston. Experience the beauty of the open sea and the thrill of sailing on a catamaran! I knew the sea state wasn't going to be great but I was talked into going anyway. Our original destination was the Chesapeake Bay but we decided to duck into Charleston after the forecasted front of thunderstorms increased in strength.
Join us as we share the costly mistake we made while sailing the Great Bahamas Bank on a Nautitech catamaran. From Bimini to the Bahamas, our sailing adventure took an unexpected turn - learn from our experiences to avoid similar mishaps on your next sailing trip! ?? #sailing #catamaransailing #catamaran #bimini #bahamas #sailingcatamaran
Our last two weeks in The Bahamas ?. Today, we sail from Spanish Wells to The Berry Islands where we plan to spend the next week or so before making our way to Andros and Morgans Bluff. It was an awesome day of sailing. We got pinched off in the morning and needed to motor sail but then the winds strengthened and shifted more north. What a great day.
Experience the beauty of sailing off Eleuthera in the Bahamas on a Nautitech catamaran. Join the sailing community and explore the stunning waters of Eleuthera in style aboard the Nautitech 46 Open! After waiting in Rock Sound for the weather to settle, we made our way to Governors Harbour before the wind shifted on to our nose. After a handful of days enjoying the very beautiful Governors Harbour, we decided to make our way up to Hatchet Bay where we'd wait out the next blow.
We left Little San Salvador early in order to be in Rock Sound for the approaching front. What an awesome day of sailing!
We finally made it to Conception Island and it does not disappoint! We had 6 days of epic sailing and exploring. We left George Town, hit Thompson Bay at Long Island, sailed up to Calabash Bay and then motored over to Conception...wow
Join us on a spirited sailing adventure from Ragged Island to George Town, Bahamas on a Nautitech 46 Open catamaran. We had an awesome week down in the Raggeds. We had East winds for the entire week, allowing for some pretty fun sailing....for all but the last day when we sailed to Flamingo Cay to the south side of Hog Cut. It's important to pay attention to how the Raggeds bend to the east! We didn't and ended up needing to tack up to Hog Cut....best to make the trip if the winds are greater than 110º or more. #sailinglife #catamaransailing #nautitech46open

We've finally made it to the Exumas. We left Morgans Bluff and made our way 78nm to Normans Cay in about 14 hours. The first 8 hours we motored but then the wind started to cooperate and we sailed the rest of the way from essentially the east-end of New Providence down to Normans Cay.
After a month in Key West, we finally thought we had a 48 hour crossing window to make it to Morgans Bluff. We were wrong...or rather, the forecasts continuously changed -- for the worse. Not unsafe, but just VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. This was not the Gulf Stream Crossing we had last year.
Loving the small boats sailing around Garrison Bight in Key West as we eagerly await our weather window to head over to The Bahamas.
The Wildest New Year's Eve Party I've been too. This is Key West during New Years Eve. We were amazed at the amount of people in Key West. We chose to support the LGTBQ+ community and reserve our spot on the balcony to watch the famous Red Shoe Drop. #shorts #boatlife #boating #keywest #liveaboardlife
Watch as this unfortunate boat owner's houseboat starts sinking on New Year's Day. A reminder to always check your boat for leaks! #sinkinghouse #boatingdisaster #boatlife #liveaboardlife #boating As we were heading into Key West to begin our New Years Eve Celebrations, we discovered a sinking house boat in Garrison Bight. What a total bummer for the owners. #shorts #keywest #keywestlife #liveaboardlife #cruising #sailinglife
It was time to leave the Bahamas and make our way back to the United States. We dropped our friends off at Green Turtle Cay Marina and started to make our way to either Charleston, Beaufort or, ideally, Mathews, VA. The channel was a bit more tricky than I had expected.
??Uncovering The Vibrant Beauty Of Manjack Cay: Two Idyllic Days On This Colorful Paradise #boatlife
We spent two nights at Manjack Cay and it did not disappoint! The mangroves had more turtles we've seen at any place in the Bahamas. The large reefs off the eastern coast of the Cay were excellent. We'll definitely be coming back.
Time to explore Great Guana Cay. We weighed anchor around 8:30am at Lynyard Cay and set sail, about 3-4 hours, up to Great Guana Cay. It was pretty much a close haul all the way up until we got around Point Set Rock. We had several tacks along the way...super fun day.
This is definitely the Calm Before the Storm! We made our way to Marsh Harbour early this morning to hopefully find a good anchorage in anticipation of the weekend's big blow. Forecasted to be in upwards of 60kn, it's at least 20kn more than we've experienced. That's a LOT OF WIND! Suffice it to say, Marsh Harbour wasn't vacant. We were able to find, what we hope to be, a nice hole between some sailboats. To our aft are the folks from Sailing Zephyr...very cool. Anyways, we're confident in our ground tackle but you always have to worry about other boats dragging. Our anchor is a Spade 160 and is oversized for our boat...that said, if there's an abrupt wind shift of 180º, all anchors will have to reset themselves. This is definitely the Calm Before the Storm
We waited an extra day at Staniel Cay waiting on better wind to make our Way to Bell Island. We explored Bell Island earlier in the season with our son and love it. The Seaquarium is a must-do. It's best to do at Slack Tide...and we failed adhere to that advice...or rather we had thought that it was going to be slack but the current had turned around.
The so-called Lazy River is about 7nm from George Town. We visited this special spot twice. The second time, we essentially had the entire beach to ourselves for most of the day. It's very pretty and, IMHO, a must visit if you make it down to George Town and the Moriah Harbor National Park.
