Sailors from Ukraine are not something you see every day, and they even have a hardtop on their Beneteau Oceanis 45. Also, their YouTube channel, Captain German, is the biggest Russian-speaking sailing channel on this platform. So I just had to invite myself onboard for a chat. They are on their second round around the world, and they share their secret recipe for a happy relationship on a yacht. Dina is also a pretty talented designer, making the most incredible artwork from seashells. So This I also want to share with you, and you will find all their links below. I'm sharing my production methods, setbacks, and progress, and basically all you want to know about my Hardtop project for my Bavaria 55 Cruiser. This is not a how-to guide for building a HARD DODGER or HARDTOP. It is a journey showing how I do it in my way. Without claiming this is the way to do it. In this episode I even share what I would done different if I started all over again. It is still monsoon season, and the weather is still pretty unstable. A cyclone forming pretty close makes things even worse with strong winds. Thank you so much for tagging along and for the patrons' support in making this video possible. In this video I am sharing my experience fighting for last two weeks to claim back the control of all my various accounts on different platforms. More than 50 passwords altered and serious challenges to get back ownership. Maybe to my biggest surprise among the most critical platforms having lost control on was also the one with the third slowest support. And this from a platform most content creators are not only using, but paying a high price to stay on. I am talking about patreons. I replaced my motherboard on one of my macbook pro machines here in Indonesia. And this is the same machine that obviously was spying on everything I did. Or the password key chain or the apple ID was compromised in some way or another. I am absolutely not accusing the company fixing my mac, but it is strange that this was the only mac affected. Because I use two different apple ID on my to MacBook Pro. And even a third on my iMac. I never use unsecured networks, and always use VPN. also having many other safety measures so I almost can't belive this happen to me.But it did, and I can promise you it was not a fun ride. I had to do a factory reset, and re install everything and also fight so many extremely poor support sites from different companies. But when this video was made I had finally gained 100% control on all my accounts again. Even from Microsoft and Facebook thats famous for being almost impossible to get back if something like this happen. All you wanna know about my Hardtop project for my Bavaria 55 Cruiser. How much does building a hard dodger with a hardtop on a 55-footer cost? And why not carbon fiber instead of glass cloth and polyester? I'm sharing my production methods, calculations, and even the differences in weight from canvas via glass fiber to carbon. I am also doing everything myself alone at Anchor here in Indonesia. It is still monsoon season and the weather is still pretty unstable. I am back after being sick and having lots of challenges. But I also have great news as I finally have decided and even started on my project building a hard dodger and hard top. Thank you all for waiting patiently for new episodes and I am truly sorry for keeping you all waiting. I lost my phone with the registered SIM card for security codes and biometrics for logging in to my different tools. This alone would not been a disaster if it was not for the fact my Macbook which I just got back from repairs died again at the same time. I could borrow another sailor's Mac however logging in via another machine or phone would require codes which I could not receive. So instead of messing up everything I was hoping to get at least one of my MacBooks up and running again, as they have my biometrics and login credentials. Unfortunately, this took a while and I also was sick for a few weeks. Thank you so much for tagging along, and for the patron's support in making this video possible. Sailing around the world on a mass-production yacht Bavaria 55 Cruiser in my seventh season. This is my honest review and experience with all the challenges regarding failing products and building quality. How is my real-life experience versus repeated misinformation, rumors, and parrots repeating BS from small sailors? Why do I love wide cockpits and will this destroy the secondhand market for old-school-designed yachts? Catamarans can be expensive but a modern production yacht with a wide body and huge cockpit can be a good compromise. I am busting some myths and even explaining how it's possible to build a Bavaria 55 Cruiser for a third of what high-end competitors are selling for. Is it still worth it and is it value for money? Or is this not a safe yacht on which to circumnavigate the world? I believe this video will surprise many as based on my experience things are not always what people like to believe. Sailors with old yachts are spreading misinformation not only about brands but even design qualities. In this video, I hope to broaden your perspective on what to look for and how to understand not only Bavaria but mass production yachts in general. Offshore sailing is a different ballgame than coastal sailing. Ensure the information you obtain comes from sailors with a higher standard than dreamers and unqualified opinions. I'm sharing my best practices not only for offshore solo sailing but even how to anchor safe avoiding ending up like Sailing La Vagabond. In this video, I am busting some myths again and even sharing my recommendations for offshore safety that are valid today and not opinions belonging to a museum. Claiming ancient sailors were better navigators is a false statement, and also the definition of good seamanship is not related to what equipment you carry. In this video, I will explain why sailing without an engine can be a recipe for disaster. It's important to have a reliable engine to ensure your safety while sailing around the world. Don't put yourself in a risky situation - make sure you have the proper equipment before setting out on the water. Manny illusions about electric engines in sailboats are made from influencers not being transparent. Sailing around the world with fully electric, unreliable, or without an engine is possible but it is not very intelligent. I am not talking about racing boats or island hopping but the real deal actually going around the world. I have been towing so many sailors who have been in need of assistance. Anywhere from close to ending up on reefs with the environmental disaster, such a situation would cause yet they pretend to be living sustainable and green idealists. Friends sailing with unreliable engines have been sitting ducks in heavily pirate-infested waters, and the burden sailors without engines put on everyone around them. Sailing without an engine does not make you an extraordinary sailor, it only proves you lack experience and are willing to take a huge risk. Yes, a sailing boat is most of the time propelled by the wind. This is what we prefer, however, in the real world there is not always wind, and also many situations that will require a strong engine. A sailor claiming he does not need the engine to be cruising around the world is a dangerous influencer. The question to be asked is how many times these sailors have been rescued without telling you? How many times have they touched the ground, been exposing fellow sailors to danger, or even been involved in expensive damage to others? The so-called fully electric sailors, with the most ridiculous setup, have a petrol generator as a backup. How many liters of petrol do they actually burn a year? If you knew you would be shocked! The same goes for most of those having electric outboards running petrol generators to charge their green illusions. As a long-distance sailor you see this magicians and their dirty tricks not exposed to you on their channels. What do Sailing Uma, Millenial Falcon, and Sailing Lady K have in common? They are talking loudly against modern hull design yet sailing 40-50-year-old yachts themselves. In this video, I directly address the misconceptions and misinformation about twin rudders and modern yacht designs commonly discussed on social media. With extensive personal sailing experience a background in maritime operations and a family with yacht production in my childhood, I aim to clarify that claims suggesting twin rudders are cheaper and less robust are misleading. The video emphasizes that the evolution of yacht design, including wider hulls and twin rudder configurations, enhances performance, comfort, and safety. I will argue that twin rudder systems provide more control, particularly in challenging conditions, and that their installation is often more expensive due to design complexities. I also critique influencers who share outdated or incorrect information, cautioning viewers to be discerning about where they source their sailing advice. The video touches on the implications of owning older yachts, suggesting that misconceptions about their safety features may stem from nostalgia rather than facts. Additionally, I discuss practical sailing experiences, highlighting the advantages of modern designs in performance and maneuverability. I conclude by advising viewers to trust their own experiences over social media narratives, emphasizing that the best yacht is one they are familiar with. Overall, the content aims to educate viewers on the realities of modern sailing while addressing misconceptions perpetuated in the sailing community. Can you sail to Antarctica on a mass-production yacht? They have sailed for 18 years nonstop on a mass-production yacht mostly close to either the North or the South Pole. Before this, he tested his girlfriend if she had what it takes for successfully sailing full-time around the world. And they are still going strong to places, not many visit. These are the real-life sailors you normally never hear about or see on YouTube. They even do it on a yacht many people would have strong opinions against. Meet Caroline and Paul, sailing a First 40.7 in some of the world's most remote and roughest waters. No fuss and no drama, just down to earth still pretty extraordinary people doing things many sailors would never dream about. Some of the most interesting people I have met on my long adventure are not on YouTube and they definitely are not telling you what you can do. Sailing around the world in a Bavaria 55 Cruiser mostly solo, making videos whenever we have time for it. Comfortable at sea with 4 decades of sailing experience and hundreds of thousands of miles behind me. Even though this is season 6 on YouTube I did not make that many videos in the beginning, and obviously not from my entire sailing life. Before full-time sailing 6 years ago, I sailed several seasons in the Mediterranean, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and have been sailing and racing ever since. Also, more than 10 years of experience as a captain in Search and Rescue at sea in Norway.

Bali is so much more than crowded beaches and busy party places. Some of the most beautiful parts of Bali are not even that far away. I even fell in love with a property for sale here, and I could easily picture myself living there. But I am not selling BE FREE, and I have no plans on stopping my full-circle navigation and beyond. We show you the Blue Lagoon on the northeast side of Bali and even some spectacular drone shots from Taman Ujung Water Palace in Karangasem Regency. Also known as Ujung Park or Sukasada Park. Swimming and snorkeling in the Blue Lagoon was almost unreal and we experienced such clear water we did not know existed in Bali. My friends are soon flying back home to Europe, so we don't have time for more surfing as there are still some places we want to explore together before we say see you later. We go surfing again and this time with smaller boards. We also show you the craziest beach clubs and after-beach alternatives in the Chango district of Bali. So much going on with events and concerts almost nonstop in Bali. Sorry for the bikini overload in this episode, but it's hard to come around visiting events like this. For some of these clubs, you really need deep pockets, but there are cheaper alternatives if you are in Bali on a low budget. To our surprise, we also stumbled over the biggest reggae festival I have ever seen, which was here in Bali. Who would ever believe that? Kite surfing in Sanur, wave surfing in Kuta Beach, and fixing a blocked toilet! Planning things is not always so easy living on a yacht, and more rule than exception is that something always will fail and need full attention. This time it's something blocking the drain of the holding tank making it full when it is supposed to be empty. This requires immediate attention as this warm climate makes things happen in a grey water tank really fast. I'm sharing my solution for emergency emptying the holding tank in a place without pump-out facilities.
